Joy In The Simple Things

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.
Buddha

Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.
Mother Teresa

There is joy all around us, in every facet of life. Joy comes in moments, fleeting and often unrecognized. We become too busy to notice, too tuned to the hum of our everyday life to appreciate the moments of joy passing us by. Yet it's so easy to pause and take in the simple joys of life. There is joy in early spring tulips pushing up through Winter's sleep, the way a droplet of rain water hangs suspended on the tip of a leaf. There is joy in a dew covered spider's web, the gleeful laugh of a child, the smell of freshly baked cookies. There is joy in whispered truths of the Spirit, the way a cat curls into a ball of fluff, a snow-laden sky, the embrace of a loved one. Joy is whatever makes your heart sing, but so often those moments are drowned out by the noises of life. If we take time to pause, just for a moment to hear our heart singing, we might be amazed at what we have been missing all this time.
What brings you joy?
